š¾ A Simple Routine That Works for Willie
When I first got Willie, the breeder recommended 4health dog food, and Iāve pretty much stuck with it ever since.
I usually pick it up at Tractor Supply Company, and over time Iāve settled into a simple routineāmostly dry food, with a little wet food mixed in.
Nothing fancy, but it works.
For Willie, that combination seems to help with digestion, and heās done really well on it. Good energy, healthy coat, and heās always ready to eatāwhich I guess is the ultimate test.
Iām not a veterinarian not even on TV LOLājust sharing whatās worked for me as a dog owner. Every dog is different, but Iāve found that keeping things simple and consistent goes a long way.
š„£ Why Iāve Stuck With It
At this point, itās less about why I chose 4health dog food and more about why Iāve stayed with it.
Willie does well on it, itās easy to find at Tractor Supply Company, and I havenāt had a reason to switch.
There are a lot of good dog food brands out there, but once I find something that works, I tend to keep things consistent.
š„£ Other Dog Food Brands to Consider
There are a lot of good dog food brands out there, and what works best often depends on your dog.
For example, my daughter buys a dry food thatās specific for her pit bull. Larger or more active dogs sometimes need formulas designed for their size, energy level, or even muscle maintenance.
Some well-known and widely used dog food brands include:
- Purina Pro Plan
- Hill’s Science Diet
- Royal Canin
- Blue Buffalo
- Taste of the Wild
Many of these brands offer:
- Breed-specific formulas
- Large breed and small breed options
- Sensitive stomach recipes
- Puppy, adult, and senior nutrition
Thereās no one-size-fits-all answerāwhat works great for one dog might not work for another.
š„ Other Dog Food Options to Consider
Not every dog owner feeds traditional dry or wet foodāand there are more options today than ever.
š„© Fresh Dog Food Delivery
Some owners prefer fresh, human-grade meals delivered right to their door.
A couple popular services include:
- The Farmer’s Dog
- Nom Nom
These services usually offer customized meal plans based on your dogās size and needs. They can be a great option, although they tend to cost more than traditional dog food.
š„£ Mixing It Up
Some dog owners take a middle approachāusing dry food as a base and adding fresh food on top.
Thatās pretty similar to what I do with Willie, just using wet food instead. Itās a simple way to mix things up without overcomplicating things.
š Where to Buy Dog Food
Most of these brands are easy to find, both online and in stores.
Here are the places I tend to use:
- Tractor Supply CompanyĀ ā where I buy Willieās main food
- ChewyĀ ā great for treats, supplements, and convenience
- AmazonĀ ā quick orders and occasional deals
- PetcoĀ ā carries many premium brands
- PetSmartĀ ā another reliable option
- Pet Food ExpressĀ ā one of my personal favorites, especially here in California
Between these options, you can usually find the brand you want at a good priceāor just go with whatās most convenient.
š” What Matters More Than the Brand
One thing Iāve learned over timeāwhat matters most isnāt chasing the ābestā brand.
Itās:
- Finding something your dog does well on
- Keeping things consistent
- Paying attention to how your dog responds
Dogs are pretty good at letting you know what works and what doesnāt.
š Coming Next
In my next post, Iāll cover what I buy for Willie beyond foodāincluding treats, toys, and supplements, and where I usually shop (mostly Chewy and Amazon).
Thank you for visiting my website. Willie and I appreciate every reader.
